What you need to know

It conjures up all sorts of images in many minds of tough, physical challenges, difficult tasks that make even the most brazen shake at the knees. However, what you need to know is – it is up to you to decide what YOU want for your teambuilding event. Let it take the form that suits your group the best. Discuss the desired outcomes with us and we will create a program that fits the profile of your group so that the outcomes are realised and the enjoyment for all is optimum. Many companies have done a lot of team building and may have come across the mundane and standard packages out there, over and over again – that is why you should try Tri Active for something new. Most importantly whatever form of team building you choose, it always needs to have a fun element in it. Laughter is a great way to release pent up energy and frustration, so with the “ice-breakers” at the beginning of the event, the group is guaranteed to relax and get into the spirit of things.

Each request is different. Some groups have overnight events linked with conferences, some have just an afternoon or a full day dedicated to team building, but whatever it is that you require, we will create the program for you to best suit your needs. Below is an idea of the timing for a day event on team building activities. Of course it all depends on where the event is held as to the specifics for the day, but using our venue in Elgin Valley as an example, a typical schedule would be:

Day Event

What follows is an example of a day itinerary.09h30: Arrival at venue. Welcome tea/coffee/muffins.10h00: Indemnity forms to be signed and a briefing on the sequence of events. Group split into smaller teams if applicable.10h30: Let the games begin…… each team will have a leader with a group of facilitators who will take them through the various activities scheduled for them for the day.12h30: Freshen up before lunch13h00: Lunch. Variety of menus available.14h00: Continuation of activities to 16h00.16h00: Depart at leisure.Multi day events follow on and most include conferencing time.

From there on out, we work according to the program which can fit into one of the following categories:
Corporate Fun
Informal Team Build
Formal Team Build
This is for groups that require a fun day out, year end functions, customer entertainment, family days and other such events. We provide a wide selection of activities and games for the group’s enjoyment where the emphasis is on fun and bonding the group, without any serious emphasis on specific outcomes. This is for groups that require an outcomes-based team build where issues such as communication, trust, motivation, initiative, teamwork and more, can be programmed into the activities to highlight existing or potential problem areas and work towards resolving these. There is always a fun theme running through these activities, whilst maintaining the serious element throughout. This requires a well briefed team with full group participation by way of honest self analysis, and open minds for acceptance of change where change may be necessary. There are many groups that require an intervention where an organisational facilitator needs to work with the group, first at the workplace and conduct interviews with relevant players to identify the problems, and thereafter design a program to work through issues and achieve the desired outcomes. The second part of this is best done away from the workplace. Our team works alongside our facilitators to design the activities based program aimed at revealing behavioural patterns within the group and this together with classroom sessions offer very productive and positive results. A follow up session, a short time after the intervention, is always recommended.
